Homeschool 101:

  • Creating a strong bond with our children instead of having a strong connection with peers 
  • Raising/connecting with your child with academics attached to it – creating a strong foundation so they can get into jannah 


Homeschooling Multiple Kids

Meeting Notes:

  • Hire tutors for some of the subjects if child is struggling
  • How to do you parent with your spouse and be on the same page 
    • Plan date nights – have a parenting workshop 
    • Understand your vision and goals as family unit
    • Implement parenting strategies from books by sharing you’ve learnt and implement together / adapt and try out different ways 
    • Let husband and wife try out their own parenting strategy and let spouse do their own parenting method 
  • Take care of your spouse as well – not only your children. Spouses have their own strengths and let your spouse use it to help teach the children 
  • Allah swt gave your children to you specifically – in a special way – 2 different styles of parenting . Trust in Allah’s plan 
  • Prioritize –
    •  1) Health – you’re not good to your family if you’re not well
    •  2) marriage – your foundation for your family unit – your children will sense if spousal relationship is positive/negative 
    • 3) children – 
  • Have a home that is God-Centered instead of a child-centered (which book?)
  • Children’s fitrah – they want their parents happy 
  • Heal your inner child and be mindful of it – to be a better parent
  • How do you teach your child to be independent learners?
    • Build confidence / validation 
    • Communicate to the child – and have the child be aware of the issue and have the child reflect on the issue 
    • Let the child be independent on the lesson and inform them, the parent will check/connect with them after 
    • Big life journal – confidence matras – self-development 
    • Writing journals to reflect – teaching child to journal 
    • Mom-daughter journals – check amazon 
    • Child can journal and parent can write and respond in the journal – put stickers to motivate 
  • Mother Guilt – how do you handle the amount of time for kids after having 2,3+children 
    • Explaining and teaching to siblings, that other children need their time for other children – older kids vs. younger siblings 
    • What do you do when both kids need the mom at the same time – do you focus on the younger or older? 
      • Depends on the situation and severity of the moment 
      • Involve the older or younger one – in that moment – it helps with character development (eg. compassion, empathy)t and building up each other/sibling
      • Explaining to the sibling and giving context 
  • How do you build the love for siblings – not sibling rivalry
    • Bring Allah to the lesson, 
      • Would Allah be pleased/reward with you if you treated your sibling badly etc.? the Angels would be writing good things
      • A fly on the wall – if prophet was in the room – will you behave that way
    • Ask both children what happened? Know both sides of the story 
    • Understand the environment (outside school/programs) your children are in –  maybe fights/rivalry stemming from that – so evaluate what your children are learning outside the home 
    • Gardening Analogy – sunnah
      • Mom is the land, mom sees the roots, soil 
      • Dad is the gardener , is taking care of the plants, the soil – if dad doesn’t take care of the land – the plants does not grow 
      • Plants are the children
