  • Have kids use a phone or camera to take pictures on a sunny, winter day. Let them see what happens and learn how they can adjust the overexposure issue.

Winter Sports

  • Ice skating

  • Snowboarding
  • Tobogganing
  • Curling
  • Ice hockey
  • Ice fishing
  • Have a race to put on winter clothes with your kids
  • Build a snowman and dress it up
  • Make snow butterflies
  • Sprinkle some seeds and nuts for the animals
  • Build a fort then have a snowball fight
  • Run through deep snow
  • Help shovel a neighbour’s driveway and walkway
  • Collect items on a nature walk


  • Learn Arabic words and phrases relating to the winter season
  • Draw a picture of winter items and label the items with their Arabic names
  • Read Arabic winter books
  • Practice letter writing (ث for ثلج (snow)- ش for شتاء (winter))
  • Identify animal tracks in the snow to review the Arabic names of animals
  • Learn Prophetic words or prayers that contain the word winter or snow in Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ اغْسِلْنِي مِنْ خَطَايَاىَ بِالثَّلْجِ وَالْمَاءِ وَالْبَرَدِ ‏
O Allah, wash away my sins with the water of snow and hail.
